A new FREE pattern was just added to my Ravelry page. Claire is a light-as-air stole, knit with Rowan Kidsilk Haze. There is just one written row! Repeat that row until you run out of yarn, then bind off. Easy-peasey!
If you want your stole longer or wider simply add pattern repeats - and more yarn. My finished measurement are 63" x 19" using the 2 skeins of "Killer Red" (unusual name for such a gorgeous deep coral) that were in my stash.
I'm glad that I managed to get the above photos last evening as this morning has been rainy and gray. At least my petunias will be happy when the sun comes out later today.
Lovely!
ReplyDeleteI don't see the pattern when I click on "free pattern". Am I doing something wrong? All I get is the picture. Your petunias are very pretty. Mine have done well this summer also. They like the heat, and I have to water them every day if it doesn't rain.
ReplyDeleteI can't find the directions either. Did you ever have any luck? If so, can you give me a suggestion?
DeleteThank you,
Marty
just click on the highlighted word Claire in the first paragraph it will lead you straight to the pattern
DeleteUh. The pattern please? ;-)
ReplyDeleteI found it! Scroll down the pictures on the right.
ReplyDeleteThen download to your computer.
Also...click on the blue-green highlighted name "Claire" in the blog. That will take you to the free pattern in Ravelry. Click on the word or scroll down to the pattern photo on the right. Either way, it will get you there!
ReplyDeletePlease enjoy and let me know what you think!
It doesn't work any way I try to get the pattern I just print the picture. Three tries, I guess I'm done. It looks like fun but no good without the pattern.
DeleteI don't see the pattern when I click on "free pattern" Claire Lace Shawl. Did you forget to post it?? I am a beginner and I have been knitting dish clothes and baby wash clothes. Ready hopefully for this shawl.. Please post it. thank you...
ReplyDeleteSo very beautiful! I am going to try to make one, since you've inspired me :)
ReplyDeleteLynn - I have a question about the yarn over. Did you bring the yarn over the needle and then round to purl the two stitches together? Or, did you leave the yarn after the knit stitch, purl two together which creates an extra loop? Thanks!
ReplyDeleteWhen knitting, the yo is to bring yarn to front but still insert needle as to knit regularly. The yo stays on the needle but the wrap to knit completed the stitch.
ReplyDeleteWhen purling, the yarn is brought to front ... wrap it again, and then purl. The yo will stay on right needle while the purl wrap finishes the purl stitch.
I have been asked to make this shawl but they want it wider than 19 inches. About 24 to 28 inches. I have never had to adjust a pattern so am asking for your help. I notice you say to increase number of repeats in the pattern but not sure how many more repeats to add these extra inches. I am using a "fine" yarn, Number 2 weight. Can you help me with this. I love the pattern and will be worn over a Mother-of-the-Bride dress.
ReplyDeleteThank you in advance for your help.
Hi, I've never posted before, but I love this site.
ReplyDeleteThis scarf is SO beautiful - I even ordered the exact yarn that is pictured. But I think I must be doing something wrong - I am up to size 13 needles and I'm at 17" width and it's looking a little sloppy so far. I really don't want to add stitches to get the correct length.
I am using one strand - looking at the picture, I think maybe I should be using two?
Any input would be greatly appreciated. I really want my scarf to look just like this one!
Hmmm. Are you able to send me a photo of the shawl so far? An email can be sent to: nonsuchknits@gmail.com. It would be helpful to see a photo.
DeleteI am a very loose knitter. In fact, I probably used a #7 needle to knit the sample. I list the needle as one size larger since I know almost every knitter in the world knits tighter than I do. Having said that, a #13 seems really large and may account for the "sloppiness" you mention. The little stockinette sections should have defined stitches with a little "air space" around them for the mohair to fluff out.
I'm trying to think of reasons your shawl is 2" narrower than mine. I didn't even block this very much. It just got a like spritzing of water - KidSilk Haze doesn't want a heavy blocking.
Oh, and I just held one strand of yarn. Doubling my yarn gives me a headache. Well, not really, but it's not my favorite.
Let me know if this helps and send a photo if you can.
Any other helpful thoughts, folks?
Lynn Anne
Thank you so much for this beautiful pattern. I have several skeins of Louet KidLin that I hope will be ok for this. I'll try it with #8 needles. They worked well with a similar project - I got carried away when I ordered the yarn. It's one of my favorites. BTW - no problem finding your pattern. The link took me straight to Ravelry.
ReplyDeleteI love this pattern so much, I've spent the last hour trying to access the directions...even at the dinner table! I've had no luck, even after reading the reader's comments suggestions. Is there another site I cn find it?
ReplyDeleteThnk you, Martalynn
I love this pattern but I do have a few questions. After I cast on, how many rows of stockinette stitches do I knit before the pattern rowns? And then is it 2 pattern rows? And how many rown of stockinette rows inbetween pattern rows? I think I missed something? Help!
